The course in Cardio-circulatory Physiopathology and Cardiovascular Perfusion Techniques belongs to Class 3 of the Degrees in Technical Health Professions. The three-year program is organised in semesters. The first semester of the first year concerns the acquisition of basic knowledge in the biological, anatomical and technological field. The following second semester is focused on the physio- pathological knowledge with particular attention to the cardiovascular system, and conventional teaching activities will be accompanied by traineeship experiences, which will continue in the next two years, allowing students to acquire skills in the specialized activities. The course consists of lessons, practical exercises about equipment usage and mandatory clinical internships. These represent a part of primary importance of training, allowing students to acquire professional skills in Cardiology and Cardiac surgery. Technicians in Cardio-circulatory Physiopathology and Cardiovascular Perfusion are health professionals specialized in use and maintenance of equipment used for extracorporeal circulation, hemodynamic, electrophysiology, and ultrasound imaging. Their responsibilities are mostly of a technical nature as they assist medical staff by providing essential instructions on using equipment for hemodynamic diagnostics, or for replacing cardiovascular functions. They also plan, manage, and assess the requirements for the proper functioning of equipment, thereby guaranteeing the effective application of support techniques.
