The course is composed of two parts. During the first part, the basic underpinnings of metalinguistic analysis will be taken into consideration. Several aspects of metalinguistic analysis concerning phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax and semantics will be presented.
The second part will deal with the question of linguistic change. The study of language diachrony will involve several methodological and theoretical perspectives, implicating linguistic data gathered from Indo-European and Typological studies.
