The course aims to outline the features of tourism in its geographical implications. After an introductory part dedicated to the historical evolution and to the general and defining aspects of the tourism, we will focus on the territorial dimensions (methodologies; spatial modeling; life cycle of the tourist region; impact of globalization on tourism dynamics; new forms of organization and management of tourist spaces) and on the various types of tourism (thermal, seaside, mountain, rural, cultural, religious, urban, congress, events, new trends). Particular emphasis will be given to the tourism-culture relationship and to the historical-cultural and landscape-environmental values. Finally, the Italian tourist sector will be examined in depth, in its typological and structural features and in the international competitive context.
