Reasonable knowledge of morphology and syntax of the Latin Language: declination of nouns, morphology of verbs, syntaxe of cases.
The student will be able to: 1) identify the grammatical and syntactic links present in the Latin texts; 2) to attribute to the words the exact semantic value; 3) translate the Latin texts. The students are able to set an original critical discourse on a text, confronting itself with previous readings and interpretations and applying the most up-to-date translation methods.

Translation exercises on prose texts belonging to different genres (history, fiction, oratory, philosophy)
Traina A., Bertotti T., Sintassi normativa della lingua latina. Teoria, III ed., Bologna (Pàtron) 2015 Texts, materials and photocopies will be provided in class.
Lessons (8 hrs) and written exercises (16 hrs). Attendance at the course is strongly recommended.
The final exam will consist in verifying the ability to: 1) identify the grammatical and syntactic links present in a Latin text; 2) to attribute to the words the exact semantic value; 3) translate a Latin text. The final judgment will not take into account the results achieved by the students during the tests in itinere. Successful completion of the exam corresponds to the achievement of a qualification.
