The student, in conformity and coherence with the educational objectives of the three-year degree course, will have to acquire specific knowledge regarding the scientific approach with the literary text and develop appropriate skills in the use of critical tools (encyclopedias, bibliographic guides, histories of literature and criticism) to be applied in understanding and analyzing the relevant authorial texts proposed.
Among the knowledge it is appropriate that the student, at the end of the lessons, shows mastery in understanding the literary language, style and narrative techniques connected to the series of critical reading experiences offered. It is also advisable for you to demonstrate that you know how to orient yourself
among contemporary texts and thematically related to those proposed; who is informed about the most relevant, as well as updated, critical positions applied to the exegesis of the author's text and about the sources that contributed to its construction, as well as
than on the "history of mentality" contextual to literary production itself.
It is also necessary for him to develop knowledge of the development, in a diachronic sense, of personalities and critical and historiographical positions applied to Italian literature.
Among the skills it is desirable that the student consolidates an attitude that is as autonomous as possible in the exegesis and judgment of the literary text; who therefore orients themselves in the critical panorama, arriving at developing, in the light of the methods learned, a personal aptitude for choosing and consequently for reading one or a series of thematically related texts.
Furthermore, autonomy of judgment must be linked to adequate communication skills that allow one to be persuasive both in the oral presentation of the acquisitions and critical positions acquired and in any
production of a short written essay: the latter is in fact the specific tool for the dissemination of critical thinking at any level, even compared to a simple three-year degree thesis.
The exercise on the literary text represents the tool for the acquisition of the major skills that the Degree Course aims to confer progressive refinement of argumentative skills, critical spirit and independent judgment, the mastery of which makes the student ready to face courses
