Prerequisites:

Good knowledge of European and Italian medieval history and of the history of religious orders in the Middle Age is mandatory

Objectives

By the end of the module, the students
1. - will have acquired a knowledge of the fundamental types of documentaries,
2. - will be able to identify and critically use written sources relating to the period and theme studied for the purpose of carrying out autonomous researches (Ability to apply knowledge and understanding);
3. - will be able to properly evaluate and judge the sources analysed during classes;
4. - will have acquired the ability to present critically and with an appropriate lexicon the results of their research (Communication skills)

Teaching Methods

Lessons will be held as seminars. Frontal lectures, reading and analysis of primary sources, discussion of texts, will characterize classroom activities. Students are expected to attend regularly classes, where they should actively participate to the general discussion.

Evaluation methods

Verification of learning:

Knowledges and abilities will be verified through a question&answer oral exam. The competence will be judged appropriate (with a vote based on a 30 points scale) if the student:
- will show to have clearly learnt the fundamental frames of the reference period
- will show explaining ability and conscious use of the suitable lexicon;
will demonstrate knowledge and ability to use the tools for historical research.
will demonstrate knowledge and ability to use the tools for historical research relating to religious orders in the Middle Ages
The grading scale ranges from 1 to 30 with honors (cum laude):
1-17 fail
18-21 sufficient
22-24 fair
25-27 good
28-29 very good
30-30 with honors (cum laude) excellent.
