A good knowledge of the history of Western philosophy is recommended but not necessary
After an introduction on the way philosophy accesses the object 'religion', with a historical-interpretative path concerning its origins and its different forms of approach, the course will be divided into two parallel paths. The first will investigate through the work of Ulrich Beck what are the characteristics of religious life in the age of secularisation. The second track will focus on the philosophical interpretation of the origins of secularisation and the metaphysical death of God through the reading of some essays by Martin Heidegger.

The lectures will be conducted in a frontal manner, with the possible help of slides or movies. A series of seminars with national and international colleagues on the topics of the course are being planned. If the regulatory framework and the provisions of the University provide for it, the teaching activities and related receptions / examinations of profit can be carried out in telematics mode (total or partial). Learning will be verified by an oral examination expressed in thirtieths, which will be structured through two/three questions on the various topics and books of the course. The interview will evaluate the following aspects: 1. Knowledge of the contents of the program 2. Clarity of exposition 3. Appropriateness of language to the discipline 4. Personal development of content.
