Provide the student with the theoretical basis necessary for a reasoned understanding of the general principles of epidemiology, hygiene and prophylaxis of infectious diseases.
The course aims to provide the basic knowledge of epidemiology, prevention of major infectious diseases in dentistry and health organization.
Introduction to the study of Hygiene (with particular reference to the scientific, educational and operational objectives of Hygiene and the concept of health, risk and disease). Epidemiology (with particular reference to: Definition and purpose of epidemiology; Measures of frequency of health events; Measures of association; Epidemiological studies; Screening). General Hygiene (with particular reference to: Epidemiology and prophylaxis of the main infectious diseases; Vaccinoprophylaxis, types of vaccines, strategies and vaccination schedule; Passive immunoprophylaxis and chemoprophylaxis; Sterilization, Disinfection and Disinfection). Principles of organization of the National Health Service.

The teaching is structured in frontal lessons of 3 hours according to the teaching calendar. The lessons include a strong interactive component between Teacher and Students. Attendance is compulsory.
Oral exam: the student must demonstrate his preparation by dealing in a clear and organized way with the topics requested by the teacher. The evaluation will be carried out using votes in thirtieth.
