At the end of the course, the students must have acquired the basic knowledge of the principles of physiopathology in order to be able to identify signs and symptoms of the main categories of pathologies treated by a speech therapist.
The course provides students with the knowledge of the theoretical bases of typical development, focusing on signs and symptoms that characterize communication, speech, language, deglutition and feeding disorders.
- Signs and symptoms in semiotics - Stages of language development, components of language and processes of language comprehension and production. - Signs, symptoms identification and risk factors associated with language development disorders in the ages: 0-3 and 3-6. - Stages of cognitive development. - Development of swallowing and feeding.

The teaching is structured in 10 hours of lectures with multimedia support and/or distant education by online learning.
The level of learning achieved will be evaluated with a final exam consisting of an oral and/or written test aimed to ascertain the standard of knowledge reached on the theoretical contents presented in the syllabus.
Students will be received by the teacher every Monday from 11am to 1 pm and upon appointment which has to be agreed via e-mail to the address: vittoria.perrotti@unich.it
