EDUCATIONAL TARGETS
The course aims to provide students with basic knowledge about the origins and historical developments of the technological and scientific revolution that has represented the greatest modern factor of economic and social growth and sustainable development and that has produced what is termed the "knowledge economy".
In the positive sense, we study the production of economic value through knowledge, considering the cognitive structures and the virtual, logistic and relational integrators that implement the networks of knowledge production and propagation in the contemporary economy. Part of the course will focus on the role of human capital in modern growth and development dynamics.
The topic of sustainable economic development in the age of knowledge will also be addressed.
EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES
KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
At the end of the course the student will purchase the tools for:
- understand the complex phenomena of the development processes of knowledge-based economies;
- critically evaluate the reasons that justify the different development policies implemented by public decision makers, also and above all in terms of sustainability.
APPLYING KNOWLEDGE AND
UNDERSTANDING
At the end of the course students will be able to apply the acquired knowledge to analyze the problems of information and knowledge and their influence on the functioning of the economy and of the sustenability.
MAKING JUDGMENTS
The student will be able to independently collect and evaluate the information necessary for the analysis and resolution of problems related to sustainable economic development in the age of knowledge. The actual possession of independent judgment is verified through the verification test in which he will have to demonstrate the ability to synthesize, analyze, elaborate and language appropriateness.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Students will be able to present the knowledge acquired with adequate language and methodological rigor.
LEARNING SKILLS
The student will be able to understand the role of knowledge in models of growth and sustainable development and will have acquired a working method useful for continuous updating in his own working context of reference, also thanks to the classroom discussion of case studies useful for applying what I learned from the theoretical point of view.
