The undergraduate course is divided into two integrated disciplines: -Philosophy -Education SciencesThe Philosophy course aims to provide students with a general knowledge in philosophy. A particular emphasis will be given to the history of Western political thought and the most important figures and philosophical currents from the ancient to the modern world. Students will analyse some of the most important works of the philosophical tradition. The primary aim of the course is to provide a general knowledge of the most important topics related to the various fields of contemporary philosophy (theory, epistemology, linguistics, aesthetics, ethics and religion) as well as a firm grounding in critical and argumentative skills. Students will become familiar with the basic concepts and terminologies of philosophy and also learn to develop their skills in textual analysis. They are also required to have a good knowledge of English and, possibly, another European language, preferably German, French or Spanish as well as a familiarity with informatics and the methods of bibliographical research. Students who choose to specialise in Education Sciences will obtain a basic competence in the theory and practice of pedagogic sciences and methodology. They will also acquire a knowledge of educational topics in general including discrimination, integration and multiculturalism through didactic activities which aim to provide an analysis of the social, cultural and territorial context in order to plan educational projects relevant to the complexity of the present social and professional context. Students will acquire a competence in pedagogical projects, teaching methods and communication skills through modern technologies. Students will also receive lessons designed to boost their proficiency in at least one foreign language as well as in informatics.
