The purpose of the Degree Course in Medical Radiology Techniques, Imaging and Radiotherapy, is to train healthcare workers (pursuant to Article 3 paragraph 1 of Law 10 August 2000 No. 251) responsible for the acts within their competence and authorized to carry out radiological investigations and services, in compliance with the radiation protection standards established by the European Union. Graduates are authorized to perform (in compliance with the provisions of the law of 31 January 1983, n. 25), independently or in collaboration with other health figures, on medical prescription, all the interventions that require the use of radiation sources ionizing, artificial and natural, of thermal, ultrasonic, nuclear magnetic resonance energies, as well as interventions for physical or dosimetric protection, in order to carry out the proper competences foreseen by the relative professional profile (DM of the Ministry of Health of 26 September 1994, n 746 and subsequent additions and amendments). Furthermore, it is the task of the graduates to check the correct operation of the equipment entrusted to them, providing for the elimination of minor inconveniences and implementing verification and control programs to guarantee quality according to predefined indicators and standards; they carry out their activity in public or private health facilities, in a relationship of dependency or freelance; contribute to the training of support personnel and contribute directly to the updating of their professional profile and research.Graduates in Techniques in Medical Radiology, Imaging and Radiotherapy must have acquired knowledge, skills and attitudes to exercise the profession of Medical Radiology Technician.To achieve this goal, graduates in Medical Radiology, Imaging and Radiotherapy Techniques must demonstrate that they are able to:- manage acquisition technical-diagnostic procedures, imaging processing according to scientific evidence and guidelines;- evaluate the quality of the iconographic document produced and if it complies with what is stated in the survey proposal;- manage the technical diagnostic procedures of transmission and archiving of imaging;- deliver radiotherapy treatments;- use methods and tools for quality control, evaluation and revision;- implement the provisions on radiation protection and safety and use personal protection equipment;- establish professional communication with users and colleagues;- ensuring user comfort, safety and privacy during diagnostic investigations and radiotherapy treatments;- act responsibly towards users and the Service by adopting professional behaviors that comply with ethical and deontological principles;- accept and manage the preparation of the patient for diagnostic investigation or radiotherapy treatment by acquiring the informed consent, as far as his competence allows;- collaborate with doctors, colleagues and all staff to ensure optimal operation of the Service and contribute to the solution of organizational problems;- use information systems for data collection, analysis and information management;- search for the best scientific evidence to investigate areas of uncertainty or improvement in one's professional practice;- know the English language for the exchange of instructions and information in the specific area of competence.Therefore, the pre-requisites required of the student wishing to enroll in the course should include good human contact skills, good teamwork skills, ability to analyze and solve problems.In order to be admitted to the Degree Course in Medical Radiology Techniques, Imaging and Radiotherapy, an adequate preparation in the fields of physics and mathematics is required.
