The Master's Degree Course in Philosophical Sciences at the University of Chieti-Pescara aims to provide students with the necessary learning and methodological skills to understand the different periods, contexts and thematic fields of the philosophical traditions which have developed during three millenia from Ancient Greece to the present. Students are offered a wide range of subjects in history and philosophy which cover every period of the history of philosophy: Antiquity, the Middle Ages, the Renaissance, early and late Modernity and the Contemporary Age. The study program also aims to boost the critical and methodological skills necessary to identify original lines of research, to develop them thoroughly and communicate them competently. To this end, students will acquire specific knowledge in the disciplinary fields of theoretical philosophy, moral and political philosophy - and philosophy of science. Equipped with these competences, students will be able to engage in current debates and develop their own research. In particular, they will be able to interrelate their expertise in philosophical inquiry with the central questions of scientific research, ethics, economics and law. The study programme, in conjunction with an appropriate first-cycle curriculum, prepares students for secondary-school teaching and provides them with the learning and proficiency to enter proper professional training courses. It also provides the preparation and qualifications for access to higher education courses and research. Last, but not least, the course aims to train professional figures capable of operating in political and economic sectors in which specific competences in philosophical training are required. A great importance and focus are given to business management and human resources, communication and creative design, the promotion of rights and sciences, evaluation of biomedical and scientific research, cultural mediation between disciplines, world views and styles of life.
