The course is divided into two parts:

- Part I: periodizations, repertoires, theories, protagonists.

General characters (history, exponents and production) of Medieval and Renaissance music production. The course provides an overview of the main events and problems of music and of the main musical, literary and figurative sources from the Middle Ages to the Renaissance.

- Part II: Josquin Desprez and the great Flemish season

The second part proposes an in-depth study to discover the musical language and peculiarities of the great Flemish school. In particular, the musical production of Josquin Desprez and his role in the Italian courts will be examined by analyzing and listening to some of his main compositions.
