Objectives

Specific training objectives of General Surgery are: understanding the aspects of anatomy surgery, physical and instrumental semeiotics and the general elements of surgical therapy as well as ethiopathogenesis, pathophysiology, symptomatology, diagnosis and therapy of diseases of surgical relevance.

Contents

The course aims to provide students with the knowledge of pathophysiology, diagnostics and therapy of the most common diseases in clinical practice involved in surgical procedures in the patient of dental interest.

Extended Syllabus

Surgical infections: limited and generalized.
Injury from traumatic agents.
Wound healing process
Main topics of pathology of the esophagus, stomach, duodenum, small intestine and fat.
Main topics of pathology of the liver, biliary tract and pancreas.

Teaching Methods

The teaching methods followed by the teachers consist of traditional lessons and discussion of clinical cases. The lessons will take place through Power Point presentations and videos. During the lessons the specific problems of the pathology object of the frontal lesson will be illustrated and discussed.

Evaluation methods

Verification of learning:

The assessment of the learning will be carried out by means of an exam consisting of an oral test on the topics set out in the program in order to verify whether the student has achieved the set objectives, assessing his / her ability to exhibit and the completeness of the discussion of the topics covered by the interview.

Attendance at the lessons respects the calendar scheduled at the beginning of the academic year, with attendance obligation for not less than 70% of the lessons, attendance signatures will be issued at the end of the course. The methods of recovery for students who have at least 50% of attendances in class, are agreed from time to time with the teacher.
