Prerequisites:

For the courses of the same Scientific Disciplinary Sector (SSD) on more than one year, the examination relative to the subsequent discipline can not be taken if the examination relative to the previous one has not been passed. The Architectural Survey (8 credits, second year) can not be taken if the examination of descriptive Geometry (8 credits for the first year) has not been passed.

Objectives

The educational objective of the course is to provide students with architects the appropriate theoretical-applicative knowledge to analyze and represent, through the graphic language, what derives from the process of knowledge of the built in its environmental context. The purpose will be specifically pursued through a planned methodological course on the Surveying, articulated in thematic modules that will offer a total of 8 credits in the field of Drawing (08 E1-ICAR / 17). The student will then be guided through a training program that will allow him to know, with the support of the basic skills provided in the first year, the potential and possible applications of the drawing for the architecture and the environment survey.

Contents

The scientific-disciplinary contents of the course concern the analysis, the knowledge and the representation of the actual state. Through a series of theoretical lessons and practical exercises, the course will address the topics related to the different phases and procedures of detection, direct and instrumental. It is opportune to underline that, in parallel with the methodologies of acquisition of metric data which constitute only one piece of the most complex process of knowledge to which the survey tends, the characteristic values of the object will be considered. The survey operator, although supported by modern technologies, is called to perform a selective operation of discretization, analysis and synthesis of the built reality, complex and stratified over time. The objective is therefore to arrive at the planning of a conscious survey project that, based on the purposes required by the study themes, is able to select and integrate the most appropriate methodologies to analyze, through the survey, the architecture in the its environmental and landscape context, coming to a conclusion to the representation of the data obtained from the survey.

1. PREMISE AND COURSE AIMS OF THE COURSE
The Architecture Survey course aims to provide students with architects the appropriate theoretical-applicative knowledge to analyze and represent, through the graphic language, what derives from the process of knowledge of the built in its environmental context. The purpose will be specifically pursued through a planned methodological course on the Surveying articulated in thematic modules that will offer a total of 8 credits in the field of Drawing (ICAR / 17). The student will then be guided through a training program that will allow him to know, with the support of the basic skills provided in the first year, the potential and possible applications of the drawing for the survey of architecture and the environment.
Finally, the third year concludes the basic training cycle of the Drawing by introducing in the eventual choice of the Multidisciplinary Degree in Drawing and multimedia representation, scheduled for the fifth year at the end of the Magistrale cycle of studies.

3. ORGANIZATION OF THE COURSE: EXERCISES - ELABORATION OF THE YEAR
The exercises, carried out partly on the outside and part of the classroom, will focus on the issues sunk in the course, relative to the main aspects of the survey and the subsequent graphic transfer.
The exercises will be evaluated from time to time and will constitute exam material; they should preferably be written on smooth cardboard sheets in A3 or 35x50 cm format.
Theme of the year, students divided into groups of 2 to 4 people, will have to develop a theme of study, agreed and elaborated under the guidance of the teacher, which summarizes the overall knowledge acquired in the course.

4. EXAMINATION METHODS
The final evaluation will result from the average of the different tests during the year (exercises, workshops and theme agreed) and an oral exam on the topics developed during the course.
Students who do not carry out a sufficient number of exercises will have to take a supplementary graphic test to be admitted to the oral exam.

Conventional

Teaching Methods

The course is organized in a teaching methodology divided into modules, consisting of lectures, exercises and thematic workshops. Each lesson is set by a theoretical-methodological introduction of the professor who explains the topics and provides the references, techniques and methods to be used, expanded by the information available in the materials provided in the classroom and by references to multimedia and sites in network. At the end of each workshop, students must arrive at a summary of the topics covered, which will then be defined through a final work of in-depth thematic to be carried out independently. The course offers further information to students through a specially created Facebook group, to provide online news on the programs, some deadlines and evaluations, drawings, photos, videos and images to share.

Evaluation methods

Verification of learning:

The final evaluation of the Architectural Survey course consists of the average of the assessments acquired by the student regarding: exercises carried out; elaboration of the theme of the year object of the workshop; individual oral exam on topics covered during the lessons cycle. Students who do not carry out a sufficient number of exercises will have to take a supplementary graphic test to be admitted to the oral exam.

Contacts/More Information

The architecture survey course (second year) takes place in the first semester, on Tuesday afternoon and on Wednesday morning.
After class time there will be further clarification for students who request it. There are also weekly meetings to review the drawings and provide clarifications on the theoretical issues.
The course is part of the disciplines related to the SSD ICAR 17 DRAWING. In the disciplinary organization of the Single Cycle Master Degree in Architecture of the University of Chieti-Pescara, the design disciplines are distributed in the first three years to converge in the 5th year in the thematic Degree Laboratory in architectural representation (Project, conservation and representation ), which closes the cycle of studies.
Students have the obligation to attend classes. The frequency is ascertained by the teacher responsible for the course.
Each university credit (CFU) corresponds to 10 hours of teaching activities in the classroom or laboratory and 15 hours of individual study activities.
