The course of social pedagogy (Sozialpädagogik) has as its object, with the branch of general pedagogy (allgemeine Pädagogik) in its historical and critical development since the mid-nineteenth century, the pedagogical professions to which it offers the foundation: as has happened also for other human and social sciences born in the Mitteleurope of the same period, the professions corresponding to those which were established in the following century.
Particular attention is given to the profession of Pedagogist, as it has been recognized since Law 205/2017, and how the definition is evolving in the scientific and academic world.
