The course is aimed at students who have already acquired knowledge of English (B1) and aims to provide better preparation aimed at professional integration. This objective naturally derives from the fact that mastery of the English language is one of the essential requirements for the achievement of any university degree.
This formative and professionalizing need is answered in the Common European Framework of Reference for the determination of linguistic skills and levels of competence, in the various forms of assessment and certification, and the development of the teaching of specialized languages, by relating linguistic skills and knowledge academic and professional.
Specific languages should not be considered as micro-languages, that is, reduced uses of the linguistic system, but as languages whose, production and reception identify the participants in the communication act as specialists.
Without forgetting the many influences present in university teaching such as the limits in credits and the amount of hours assigned, different levels of previous linguistic competence and professional specialization of students, needs for a formal verification of learning, etc., the course aims to give priority to the development of written language comprehension skills, listening oral production and accuracy, providing authentic materials sometimes reduced and adapted and tools to move from understanding to production through the recovery and enhancement of the main structures of the English language.
