The course aims to:
- to provide the basic theoretical tools needed to study the economy and innovation of digital markets;
- to deepen case studies that constitute solid references in the economic literature, both on the side of the economy of innovation and on the side of the strategies of innovative firms.
EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES
The course will complement the training of the student with knowledge and tools useful to deepen the essential aspects to better understand the role of digital innovation in economics from a theoretical and empirical perspective as well as the basic and applied knowledge on the ways that allow the firm to exploit the new technological levers.

Knowledge and understanding skills
The course aims to provide principles and methods for reading the dynamics of innovation in digital markets, focusing on numerous case studies that help to understand the ongoing change at the level of entire economies, individual sectors and groups of companies.
Autonomy of judgement
At the end of the course, the student will be able to interpret the strategic choices of innovative companies in digital markets and understand the impacts on market dynamics generated by the introduction of product and process innovations.
Communication skills
The ability to interpret the dynamics of innovation in digital markets and relate the analysis of the structure of emerging sectors with the resulting innovative performance of high-tech companies is the main result of teaching. The student will be able to combine case study knowledge with literature on economics and innovation management, and discuss the most interesting elements regarding the growth strategies of new digital companies. At the end of the course, the student will be able to process with greater awareness and interpret critically what are the opportunities that digital presents and how digital impacts on new businesses.
