EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES: The teaching is part of the specific objectives of the study course aimed at training a professional figure able to: Know and understand the concepts of general pharmacology and the main classes of drugs (mechanisms of action, indications therapeutic, side effects).
In particular, the Pharmacology course aims to allow the student to develop:
- the principles of pharmacokinetics (the path of the drug within the human organism, assessed in its qualitative / quantitative aspects) and of pharmacodynamics (drug / target interactions and analysis of the dose-response relationship);
- adequate knowledge on some drugs, on the phases of development of a new drug and the basic principles of pharmacogenomics
EXPECTED LEARNING RESULTS
At the end of the course the student, as far as he is competent, will be able to know the pharmacological basis of the therapy; the principles of the genomic drug. The course will help to provide the tools that will enable the student to enhance his ability to relate in team with other professional figures (doctors, psychologists, health assistants, etc.) who are involved in patient care.
The student will also be able to provide explanations to the patient and / or his family about the benefits and risks of drug therapy.
Finally, the course will help provide the student with the tools necessary to understand and participate in the different stages of drug development.
