The teaching activities are aimed at the acquisition of both theoretical and practical knowledge for the technological building design.
In particular, the course includes the following contents:
a) Comfort, minimum building requirements and the performance approach (Design of the shape and orientation of the building. Notes on thermal and visual comfort.) (5 hours)
b) Simple residential building typologies - use and functions (The building organization as a system. Universal design and removal of architectural barriers.); (5 hours)
c) The building organization, the relationship with the environment and principles of passive technologies (5 hours)
d) Natural and artificial construction materials (Technology of concrete, natural stone, wood, steel and glass, polymeric and composite materials) (5 hours)
f) Form and structural function, construction principles (5 hours)
g) Simple and complex structural systems. Foundation structures, elevation structures, vertical connections. (5 hours)
i) Opaque envelope technologies (10 hours)
f) Exercises and group project (Design of a simple building organism and its sub-systems. Realization of plans, carpentry, sections and construction details) (20 hours)
