Placement in the training project
The Urban Planning and Technique Course is part of the Integrated Territory Management Course and is located in the first semester of the first year of the Degree Course in Building and Territory Techniques for the Surveyor Profession (Classe L P01 - Technical professions for construction and the territory). The course aims to introduce the student to the skills necessary to be able to describe and interpret cities, territories and landscapes and their interactions with environments and geomorphological processes using urban planning and geomorphological analysis techniques.
Educational objectives
The course aims to provide the framework of basic knowledge needed to describe and interpret cities, territory and landscape.
Specific objectives are:
- analyze the techniques for producing, reading and comparing town planning documentation at various levels and scales;
- adequately control the complex transformations in the urban and territorial structure that result from the processes of social and economic development;
- to introduce the student to a first experience of urban planning, mainly in the residential area, within which it is possible: to know the main normative references and acquire context interpretation methodologies aimed at the urban project.
To achieve the training objectives, the course avails itself of the collaboration of the expert on the subject Eng. Angelica Nanni
Structure and contents of the course
The course consists of lectures, laboratory activities and end-of-course project.
The lessons will mainly concern: introduction to national and regional legislation with particular reference to legislation on urban planning, environment and landscape, suggestions on the main theories on urbanism from Ildefonso Cerdà to Bernardo Secchi.
The laboratory activities are divided into exercises (in the classroom and at home) and intermediate checks.
The exercises pursue the goal of introducing the student to the knowledge of the main urban planning techniques.
There are two intermediate controls and they are designed to periodically monitor student learning.
The project for the end of the course deals with the topic of urban-scale intervention with particular reference to those areas of Pescara subject to a detailed plan.
Verification of learning during the course
In order to be able to constantly follow the students’ learning, there are:
individual and collective reviews to be carried out in the classroom;
exercises to be carried out in the classroom and at home.

Sustainability
The concept of sustainability runs through the entire course. In particular, front lessons, laboratory activities and end-of-course project aim to introduce the student to the understanding of the fact that sustainability has three fundamental pillars (environmental, social, economic) and that in every project they must all be verified at the same time. In relation to the UN 2030 Agenda, reference will be made to Objective no. 11: Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable.
