In line with the educational objectives of the degree course in Foreign Languages and Literatures and in Linguistic Mediation and Intercultural Communication, the course aims to provide the basis for recognising and successfully tackling the obstacles posed by the French language for Italian-speaking learners. In addition, the course aims at introducing metalinguistic and grammatical as well as communicative concepts in order not only to acquire a contrastive approach to language learning, but also to develop skills in the linguistic analysis of short texts of an advertising and political nature in French and in phraseological analysis;
RESULTS OF APPROACH ATTENTION: This course aims to provide theoretical-methodological tools for linguistic analysis from a contrastive (Italian-French) and idiomatic point of view, as well as tools useful in the field of communication in French and which will serve as a basis for translation and interpretation between French and Italian;
KNOWLEDGE AND CAPACITY OF COMPREHENSION: knowledge of the basic differences between Italian and French in order to anticipate and solve the specific problems posed by the Italian-French language pair; ability to understand advertising and political texts with phraseological and sentential phenomena and ability to understand the linguistic and communicative functioning of these phenomena;
ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND COMPREHENSION: analysing the language in contrastive and phraseological terms;
AUTONOMY OF JUDGMENT: to reflect on the differences between Italian and French in order to implement strategies that will be fundamental in the field of translation and interpreting; to recognise and identify phraseological phenomena in order to understand how they function in written texts (especially advertising) and oral discourse (political discourse);
COMMUNICATION ABILITIES: being able to analyse the language from a logical-grammatical and contrastive point of view, acquiring concepts and metalinguistic terms capable of explaining the main differences between Italian and French; being able to correctly explain the functioning of phraseological phenomena in advertising and politics; being able to express correctly in daily communicative situations in French.
