CONTENTS: Understanding and reworking information based on different spoken and written English sources. Fluency and spontaneity that make the interaction with native speakers quite possible without strain for either party. Competence in the production of well-structured and detailed written texts also on specialized subjects.

TEXTS: Indications will be given at the beginning of the course (attending students). Non attending students will have to use FCE (First Certificate English) resources with keys that can be easily found online. Prof. D'Angelo will meet non attending students during her office hours to help them in planning their self-study path. EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES: The aim of the course is to strengthen the four basic language skills as shown in the CEFR, B2 users: listening (I can understand extended speech and lectures and follow even complex lines of argument provided the topic is reasonably familiar); speaking (I can present clear, detailed descriptions on a wide range of subjects); reading (I can read articles and reports concerned with contemporary problems in which the writers adopt particular attitudes or viewpoints. I can understand contemporary literary prose); writing (I can write clear, detailed texts on a wide range of subjects related to my interests).
PREREQUISITES: Knowing English language at B1 level (see Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).
TEACHING METHODS: Oral and practical lesson.
EVALUATION: In itinere (attending students only) with an oral presentation at the end of the course. Non attending students will have to pass a final based on the four linguistic abilities (listening, speaking, reading, writing). The exam, B2 level, is divided into two parts: a written exam and an oral exam based on chapters 1 and 4 of David Crystal's book.
