Characteristics and Aims The Sport, Health and Physical Exercise degree course offers general preparation for physical exercise professionals, intended as body movements for educational, leisure, sport, fitness or maintaining wellbeing purposes. The degree course lasts three years and offers a total of 180 university credits (CFU). Teaching is divided into semesters and includes classroom lessons and workshops followed by examinations. The course aims at offering technical-scientific knowledge and skills suited for planning, running and managing physical exercise and sport in public and private facilities and in sports organizations (Associations and Federations). For this purpose, learning acquisition of the basic aspects in various areas precedes and aims at developing operational and practical skills. In particular, the basic fields of study (Physics, Chemistry, Anatomy, Physiology, Anthropometry, etc) make up the foundation for understanding and the study of the effects of physical education which, in turn, make up the cultural foundation of the more specific contents of the course concerning the technical-training and methodological aspects of sport and physical exercise. In addition, the course offers solid knowledge in the fields of biomedicine, a requirement in the training of professionals operating in areas of health maintenance and wellbeing of man. The same approach concerns the psycho-pedagogical aspects which are developed in relation to the sports and physical exercise fields of study, so as to offer a cultural basis for the professional instructor. Practical skills are learnt through on field activities and internships in university sports and physical exercise facilities or in collaboration with numerous non-university facilities.In addition, the course also offers part-time enrolment , mainly for working students; for this purpose a six-year study plan has been specifically developed.Employment opportunitiesThe graduate acquires the theoretic and practical knowledge required to plan, manage, teach and evaluate physical exercise in its various forms; the graduate acquires independence in the professional field and is able to professionally keep up-to-date and to set up their own business based on scientific knowledge.Graduates find employment opportunities in public and private bodies, in sports organizations and recreational and social associations and centers aimed at promoting sports and physical exercise in various areas.From School to UniversityThe course has programmed admission on a local basis. Students with a high school diploma with a final score of less than 75/100 will be assigned further required courses (OFA). Students may pass these learning debts based on the terms indicated in the Didactic Regulation.
