The course aims to introduce students to the scientific foundations of representation, ie the theory and applications of descriptive geometry in relation to the four traditional methods and to digital design within the more general context of design studies aimed at the project and to the survey of architecture experimenting forms of graphic communication through analogical and digital techniques.
At the end of the course the students will be able:

- to know the specific terminology of descriptive geometry;
- to know the peculiarities of the different methods of analog and digital representation;
- to know basic symbols and standards of architectural technical drawing;
(SKILLS)
- to realize representations of geometric elements and simple architectures through the different methods of representation and digital drawing;
- to know how to draw shadows in analogue and digital design;
(COMPETENCE)
- to recognize the different graphic representations as belonging to specific historical traditions and to particular technological and design processes;
- to critically interpret drawings and choose autonomously the graphic-communication modalities appropriate to the different purposes and contexts.
