The course intends to carry out - as planned for the Composition courses - two design experiences with different "times" and themes.
During the workshop the theme takes up the 1980 Venice Biennale (La strada novissima) organized by Paolo Portoghesi and the commission (Scully, Norberg Schulz, myself, etc.) that took into consideration those architects who came closest to the chosen theme by Portoghesi for this Biennale - The Presence of the Past - and his interests (for a lost language of architecture); the boys will be chaimati to reinterpret the project experience conducted in those years paying particular attention to the concept of urban quita, metrics and repeatability (repetition) and its variation.
During the course there will be lectures on building typologies and a residential neighborhood will be designed by studying the suburbs of Italian middle cities (from Pescara to Matera).
For the Architectural Composition 2 the objectives are:
- to acquire the tools for the analysis of an urban media context
complexity to identify the themes for the transformation and the conditions for
the inclusion of architectural artifacts.
- to acquire the ability to give a coherent form to the architectural and functional program for a building preferably in a collective residence, in his own
technical and formal characteristics and in its relations with public spaces.
Other information will be communicated during the lessons.
