As per the Course didactic regulations.
Provide the student with the theoretical basis necessary for a reasoned understanding of the general principles of epidemiology, hygiene and prophylaxis of infectious diseases.
The course aims to provide basic knowledge of epidemiology, prevention of the main infectious diseases in the dental field and health organization.
Introduction to the study of Hygiene (with particular reference to the scientific, educational and operational objectives of Hygiene and the concept of health, risk and illness). Outline of Epidemiology (with particular reference to: Definition and purpose of epidemiology; Measure of disease frequency; Measure of disease association; Epidemiological studies; Screening). General Hygiene (with particular reference to: Epidemiology and prophylaxis of the main infectious diseases; Vaccinoprophylaxis, types of vaccines, vaccination strategies and schedules; passive immunoprophylaxis and chemoprophylaxis; Sterilization, Disinfection and Disinfestation). Principles of organization of the National Health Service.

The course is taught by lectures of 2 hours based on the didactic calendar. The lectures include a strong interactive component between lecturer and students. Attendance is mandatory.
Oral exam: the student will have to demonstrate his / her preparation by dealing in a clear and organized manner with the topics requested by the teacher. Evaluation will be carried out by using marks out of thirtieths
