Objectives

The teaching contributes to the realization of the educational objective of
the Course of Study in Cardiocirculatory Physiopathology Techniques e
Cardiovascular Perfusion by providing students with knowledge about
signs and symptoms, diagnostic procedures and therapeutic indications
in the pathologies of the nephropathic patient, consistent with the profile
Professional of Perfusionist Technician.

La verifica dell'apprendimento, che avviene mediante esame orale (con
voto in trentesimi), è volta a valutare la capacità dello studente ad un
corretto inquadramento delle patologie renali (fisiopatologia, segni e
sintomi, procedure diagnostiche, indirizzi terapeutici nutrizionali),
coerentemente con il profilo professionale di dietista

Valutazione dell’esame urine, della funzione renale, segni e sintomi delle
nefropatie, indagini strumentali in nefrologia, biopsia renale

Classificazione, eziologia, patogenesi, fisiopatologia, sintomatologia,
diagnostica strumentale, terapia medica
TERAPIA DIETETICA NELL’INSUFFICIENZA RENALE CRONICA
Regimi dietetici nei vari stadi dell’insufficienza renale
TERAPIA SOSTITUTIVA DELLA FUNZIONE RENALE
Principi fisici dell’emodialisi, accesso vascolare, cenni di dialisi
peritoneale, cenni di trapianto renale
TERAPIA DIETETICA NEL PAZIENTE DIALIZZATO
At the end of the Teaching the students will be able to:
a) In reference to the signs-symptoms of proteinuria, hematuria, oliguria,
polyuria,
peripheral edema:
illustrate the individual physiopathological mechanisms;
list the clinical significance and the main causes;
plan a correct diagnostic procedure.
b) To interpret the possible results in a physiopathological and diagnostic
key
urinalysis.
c) Specify indications and contraindications, complications, costs,
reliability of the main specialist diagnostic procedures:
- renal function test
- urine culture
- renal biopsy
- diagnostic imaging
- laboratory diagnostics.
d) With reference to systematic nosography:
- Know, based on epidemiological information, which are the most
frequent pathologies affecting the urinary tract.
- Differentiate and interpret the physiopathological elements of
semeiology clinic for a correct classification of diseases.
- Specify the pathogenetic role of the main risk factors.
- Knowing how to analyze the clinical and instrumental data to make a
correct diagnosis and setting up a therapeutic scheme

Contents

It is proposed to provide students with adequate knowledge, related to:
1) Diagnostic use of the interpreted nephro-urological signs and
symptoms in relation to their physiopathogenesis.
2) Pathophysiological, laboratory and instrumental diagnostic procedures
and their indications in nephrological diseases.
3) Systematic nosology of the main nephrological diseases.
4) Basic concepts concerning the criteria and indications of the renal
replacement therapy
5) Main techniques of substitution therapy of renal function in intensive
care units

Extended Syllabus

PHYSIOPATOLOGICAL AND DIAGNOSTIC ELEMENTS OF NEPHROPATHIES
Evaluation of urine examination; evaluation of renal function; signs and
nephropathy symptoms; instrumental investigations in nephrology; renal
biopsy.
GLOMERULAR NEPHROPATHIES
Classification; clinical glomerular syndromes; summary references on
etiology and on the main anatomic-clinical pictures; diabetic
nephropathy; general criteria of therapy.
VASCULAR NEPHROPATHIES
Classification; hypertensive nephropathy; nephrovascular hypertension;
ischemic nephropathy.
INTERSTITIAL NEPHROPATHIES
Classification; pyelonephritis; cystic kidney disease.
ACUTE RENAL FAILURE
Classification; etiology, pathogenesis, physiopathology, symptomatology,
clinical and instrumental diagnostics of the various forms of renal failure
acute; general criteria of medical therapy.
CHRONIC RENAL FAILURE
5-stage classification; etiology, epidemiology, pathophysiology,
symptomatology, diagnostics, medical therapy to antagonize the disease
progression and to treat the complications associated with it.
SUBSTITUTE THERAPY OF THE CHRONIC UREMIA
Start and choice of chronic artificial replacement therapy; features
principal of hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis; suitability for
transplantation renal and main features of the transplanted patient.
SUBSTITUTE THERAPY OF ACUTE RENAL FAILURE
Timing and choice of renal replacement therapy in Intensive Care Units

dietitian
