Knowledge of the principles of dental anatomy and morphology with particular regard to periodontal anatomy. The student will have to know the principles of oral microbiology, the mechanisms of formation of soft and hard deposits, and the mechanisms of periodontal disease associated with plaque. Particular attention will be paid to dental discolorations and pigments. The student must also know the general concepts of prevention of periodontal diseases, in particular the aids and techniques of home oral hygiene (plaque detectors, toothbrushes, and brushing, aids for the control of interdental plaque, toothpaste, mouthwashes, fluoride). They will also have to know the aids and techniques of home and professional oral hygiene applied to the different anatomical types and to the different clinical pictures.
