During the internship, the student must use the main techniques and basic instrumentation of pharmaceutical laboratory synthesis and analysis. We preliminarily elucidated the current safety precautions of the laboratory and the use of individual and collective security devices. In addition, students must learn to use:
• The glassware necessary for the vacuum filtration;
• The UV lamp for the TLC control;
• The separating funnel;
• The chromatography column for preparative separations;
• The rotavapor;
• The shaking/heating plate;
• The instrument for the melting point determination;
• The stove.
The goal is the synthesis of a biologically active organic compound.
In addition, the student will acquire the use of the main search engines (SciFinder, Pubmed) and programs for the design of molecules (ChemDraw).
