The first part of the course, to be considered propedeutic to the second one, will aim to: 1) define methods and aims of medieval epigraphy in relation to paleography; 2) to describe the main bibliographic tools of the research about medieval epigraphy; 3) to highlight the main elements of the epigraphic analysis: materials , executive techniques, "lay-out" of epigraphic texts, epigraphic typologies and forms, and the chronological elements.
The second part will have an eminently practical approach; we'll analyse particular cases, drawn from the research experience in the field of medieval epigraphy in Abruzzo.
