History of Western art from 1750 to 1970.
In-depth analysis of Neoclassical art, 19th Century Italian Art, rediscovery of Dante Alighieri and the "Commedia" between 19th and 20th Century Art (for the centenary of Dante's death in 2021) and Antonio Canova (for the centenary of the death in 2022)
Organisation
82 hours of lectures in the classroom;
6 hours of specialised seminars and assisted study in the classroom with exercises on the theme of "recognising" a work of art;
6 hours for visiting the Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Moderna in Rome

For non-attending students, in addition to the texts recommended by the teacher to students on a case-by-case basis to make good the gaps inevitably caused by failure to attend lectures, one of the following two books:

To achieve a good level of preparation it is strongly recommended to attend lectures in view of the specific nature of the topics addressed and, in some cases, of the paucity of reference material available.
Educational objectives:
Adequate knowledge of Western art from the second half of the 18th century to the 1970s: from the cultural mood of Neoclassicism to Conceptual Art.
Knowledge of the different methodological approaches and themes of primaryn interest in the discipline.
Teaching metod:
Classroom lectures with powerpoint projections, seminars, in-depth exploration, tests and visits to museums and exhibitions of importance.
Assessment:
An oral exam with marks out of 30, aimed at verifying the ability to
expose the topics presented during the course with clarity and
autonomy of judgment.
Course duration: 1 semester.
