For a full comprehension of the topics covered, the student must possess solid basic knowledge acquired in the courses of Human Anatomy, Biology, Microbiology, General Physiology and General Pathology, concerning the anatomy, physiology and biology of individual both in non-pathological and pathological conditions. Where appropriate, references to General Pathology are referred to in class to facilitate understanding of the course topics.

Objectives

The course aims to provide to students tools to understand the etiology, pathophysiology and clinical features of the main minor disorders that can be managed in the practice of the pharmacist and treated with drugs and self-medication devices (OTC and SOP). As part of the course, these pathologies are treated by management areas. Specifically, dermatological, central nervous system (headache), digestive, musculoskeletal, dermatological and cooling illnesses (flu and nasal congestion) are discussed in depth.

Etiology, pathophysiology and clinical classification of the main diseases managed with self-medication drugs: skin affections, headache, disorders of the gastrointestinal tract, joint and muscle pain, gastralgia, cooling/flu diseases

Verification of learning:

The final examination consists of an oral test during which the student is asked questions on several topics among those described in the detailed teaching program. The final evaluation is carried out based on the precision and level of detail with which the student answers the questions asked, also in relation to the expected learning.
