The program aims to introduce the student to the main moments in the literary history of Portugal, from its origins to the nineteenth century; thus presenting a complete picture ranging from the first literary manifestations to the main authors of Portuguese Romanticism. The literary contents of the course are presented to the student hand in hand with the history of Portugal, thus allowing the student a knowledge of Portuguese society in its main historical and cultural aspects. The course aims to provide students with the terminological and technical tools to understand the main Portuguese artistic and literary productions, divided into genres. The teaching contributes to the realization of the educational objective of the course of studies by providing students with the linguistic and cultural keys to the development of linguistic competence in the L2, both a continuation of linguistic studies and for the creation of a specific professional profile specialized in Portuguese language.
