ECONOMETRICS
At the end of the course students should be able to specify the most suitable empirical model for the research question; have acquired the ability to choose the most appropriate estimation method for the research question and the type of data available; be able to understand the results obtained, and interpret them in statistical and economic terms.
The econometrics course deals with the quantitative analysis of economic and social phenomena.
- Introduction to econometrics
- Simple and multiple linear regression model
- Estimation of Ordinary Least Squares (OLS)
- Properties of OLS estimators
- Hypothesis test and confidence interval
- Regression models with panel data and historical series
- Nonlinear regression models

Frontal lessons and exercises on empirical data. There will also be exercises with specific software such as R and STATA.
Final examination: Oral
Modalities for learning verification:
It is based on an oral examination, aimed at assessing students’ knowledge and understanding of the teaching material, and communication skills. The judging will also take into consideration the appropriateness of the language used and the capability to use the different tools proposed. The final grade is based on a 30-point scale.
