Prerequisites:

In order to make participation in the course effective, the student must have a solid foundation in business economics and notions related to company financial statements. Furthermore, a propensity towards knowledge of the conceptual tools necessary to address the complex and dynamic reality of companies with methodical rigor and a critical spirit, also from an interdisciplinary perspective, is required.

Objectives

Knowledge and understanding:
At the end of the course the student will be able to understand the most important aspects that characterize corporate finance and the investment strategies adopted by financial managers.
Autonomy of judgement
At the end of the course the student develops the ability to interpret and critically read the main financial statement indicators and ratios. You will also be able to provide an independent judgment on the best choices to pursue in the field of corporate investments and financing

Communication skills:
The student develops specific communication skills capable of best combining science and knowledge from different corporate, economic, legal and social fields relating to corporate finance

Teaching Methods

The course will be organized in modules whose lessons will mainly focus on the use of the following teaching methods: lectures and case study analyses. Attendance is strongly recommended.

Evaluation methods

Verification of learning:

The assessment of the students' learning level will be carried out with the use of an oral test.

It represents 50% of the overall evaluation (expressed in thirtieths) broken down in relation to the training objectives to be evaluated. The oral test (50% of the overall evaluation) is aimed at testing the student's communication skills, mastery of the specific technical language of the discipline covered and clarity of presentation.

The evaluation respects the following criteria:
• Failure to pass the exam: insufficient preparation
• From 18 to 21: sufficient preparation with specific regard to the following training objectives: sufficient or just sufficient understanding of the contents required during the exam, sufficient or just sufficient ownership of language, sufficient or just enough ability to contextualise the topics also in the field multidisciplinary
• From 22 to 24: fully sufficient preparation with specific regard to the following training objectives: fully sufficient understanding of the contents required during the exam, the ownership of language and the ability to contextualize the topics even in a multidisciplinary context
• From 25 to 26: good preparation with specific regard to the following educational objectives: good understanding of the contents required during the exam, the ownership of language and the ability to contextualize the topics even in a multidisciplinary context

• From 27 to 29:
very good preparation with specific regard to the following training objectives: understanding of the contents required during the exam, the ownership of language and the ability to contextualize the topics even in a multidisciplinary context

• From 30 to 30 cum laude: excellent preparation with specific regard to the following training objectives/learning outcomes; understanding of the contents required during the exam, of the language skills and the ability to contextualize the topics even in a multidisciplinary context.

Attending students will have the opportunity to take an intermediate written test and present a case study at the end of the course.
