The course contributes to the acquisition of the learning objectives of the programmes in "Archaeological and Artistic Heritage" and in "Philology, Linguistics and Literary Traditions". The course aims to consolidate the skills in Latin Palaeography, (ideally already acquired during the Bachelor's Degree), and to provide basic knowledge in Diplomatics. In particular, public and private documents of the 11th to 14th centuries will be analysed, in their internal aspects (language, forms, text partitions) and external aspects (materials, writing, special signs), in relation to the process of formation of the documents themselves, as well as of their preservation. Students will be required to read and comment on the documents through reproductions of the originals. Some lessons and seminars will be devoted to the main digital resources available on the Web. External specialists will be invited to lecture alongside the reference teacher.
