TRAINING OBJECTIVES
The teaching pursues the general objective of the study course of provide knowledge and skills for some corporate functions and economic forecasts. The course aims to provide students the statistical tools needed to deal with problems of a nature
forecasting and decision-making than in the company or in the socio-economic field they are inevitably treated in conditions of uncertainty. To this end the presentation of the topics will follow the logical order of the survey, the choice of the model, the elaboration and finally the validation interpretation of the results.
Alongside the study of methodologies, ample space will be given to applications and operational aspects with the use of statistical software R.
At the end of the course, the student must have knowledge and skills related to the collection, organization and analysis of data in a socio-economic environment.
The aim is to contribute to the formation of a professional figure of consultant or operator suitable for making decisions in the area of uncertainty with the support of quantitative methodologies. To tal end the course proposes to transmit the following skills e knowledge:
KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
- recognizes and distinguishes the different sources of statistical information, of a type socio-economic
- knows the principles that underlie the preparation of a sample survey
- knows and understands the logic for the construction of estimators in the case of simple random sampling and stratified sampling
- knows and understands the multiple linear regression model
- knows and understands the classic approach for analyzing series historical
- knows and understands the modern analysis model called AR
- knows and understands the modern analysis model called MA
- knows and understands the modern analysis model called ARMA
To this end, the course proposes to transmit the following skills and knowledge in terms of particular objectives:
KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING (applied)
- knowing how to collect a growing amount of data relevant to the phenomena socio-economic
- know how to implement and use the linear regression model multiple to study the relationship between costs and production methods
- know how to identify the most suitable model to apply to data and learn provide a satisfactory interpretation.
AUTONOMY OF JUDGMENT:
- independently decide which type of sample survey to use and which estimator to use for estimating a population parameter
- independently decide which type of quality control to use choosing between offline and online methods
- understands, interprets and provides a critical assessment of the results both in the context of multiple regression and time series
- expresses oral and summary considerations on the aspects fundamentals of the discipline and make interdisciplinary connections.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
- uses the language of time series analysis and regression appropriately and pertinently;
- communicates the results of the statistical analyzes in written and oral form
ABILITY TO LEARN
- carries out individual and group research on specific aspects of discipline
(tools used: handouts, in-depth texts, tutorials on
multimedia classroom group through the use of the R software)
