The course expands students’ knowledge of specific religious literature Eras of Arabo-Islamic civilization from pre-Islamic times. Focus is on areas of prophecy and prophets. One of the first steps is to analyze the Biblical background of pre-Islamic Arabia and the coding/canonization of the Qur’anic suras, i.e. The Sacred Book for excellence.
A particular emphasis shall do to the “Qisas al-anbiyya/Stories of Prophets”, a literary genre well known from the Arabo-Islamic lands. Islamic Historiography and Hadith Collections will useful to outline the most important prophets and their figures.
